What we expect from everyone on Voxara

Spaces set their own rules and moderators run them. These guidelines are the floor that applies everywhere on Voxara, in spaces and in direct messages alike.

Do not

• Harass or threaten anyone. No bullying, no targeted abuse, no threats of violence, no encouraging self-harm, no organising pile-ons.
• Attack people for who they are. No hateful content or slurs directed at race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or serious illness.
• Post sexual content involving minors, in any form, or sexualise anyone under 18. This is reported to the authorities.
• Share intimate images of someone without their consent, or threaten to.
• Post other people's private information (addresses, phone numbers, documents, private messages) without their permission.
• Impersonate a person, a space, a moderator, a bot or Voxara itself, or claim an authority you do not have.
• Spam or scam. No flooding, no unsolicited mass messages, no phishing, no fraud, no fake giveaways, no malware or malicious links.
• Use Voxara for illegal activity or to promote it, including violent extremism and terrorism, the sale of illegal goods, and infringement of other people's rights.
• Post graphic violence or gore to shock, or content that glorifies it.
• Evade moderation. Do not create new accounts or spaces to get around a ban, timeout or suspension.

Do

• Follow the rules of each space you join; its moderators can remove you if you do not.
• Use the tools: block people you do not want to hear from, report messages and users that break these guidelines, and use timeouts and bans in spaces you moderate.
• Be clear when a bot you run posts on your behalf; bots always carry a BOT mark for that reason.
• Respect that voice and video are peer to peer: do not record people without telling them, and do not join calls to disrupt them.

How enforcement works

• In a space, its moderators act first: deleting messages, timing people out, kicking, banning, locking threads. A report about a message in a space goes to that space's moderators.
• Across Voxara, reports about direct messages and about people, and anything moderators escalate, come to the Voxara team. Depending on severity we warn, remove content, restrict features, or suspend the account. Serious cases (child safety, credible threats, illegal content) skip straight to suspension and, where required, a report to the authorities.
• Appeals. A suspended account can appeal from the sign-in screen. Someone other than the person who made the decision looks at it, and you get an answer by email.

These guidelines are not a complete list of everything that could go wrong. If something is clearly against the spirit of them, it is against them.
