How to create channels in Voxara
Three channel types, and when to use each.
The three types
Text channels are for chat: messages, replies, reactions, files, GIFs, polls and threads. Voice channels are rooms people join to talk; click one to join, click another to move. Forum channels are for posts that deserve a title: bug reports, suggestions, guides. Each post is its own thread with tags you can filter by.
Creating one
Right-click the space name at the top of the sidebar and choose New channel, or press the + next to a category heading to create the channel inside that category. Choose the type, give it a name, and press Create. Names can contain emoji and symbols if you like that style; the app handles them everywhere, including when someone mentions the channel with #.
Categories
Categories group channels under a heading you can collapse. Make one from the space menu with New category, then drag channels into it or set the category when creating a channel. Permissions set on a category apply to every channel inside it unless a channel overrides them.
Channel settings
Right-click a channel for Edit channel: rename it, give it a topic that shows in the header, set slow mode, or move it to another category. Permissions on the same menu controls who can see and post in that channel; the roles guide covers it.
Forum tags
Open a forum channel and press Manage tags to add tags with a colour each. Posters pick tags when they create a post; the author or a moderator can change them later by right-clicking the post. The tag chips at the top filter the list.
Mentioning a channel
Type # in a message and pick a channel. It shows as a clickable chip that takes people straight there.
